Living Room Dining Space Kitchen Master Bedroom Bedroom 2 Hot Tub View to Bridge View from Bridge

This gem of a property sits on the edge of the village of Dailly. Although the cottage is semi-detached you wouldn’t think so since there is no one who lives next door. The adjoining property was entrusted to the local council to be used as a brigade hall of which the troop meet once a week for about an hour.

The origins of the cottage date from circa 1860 and more recently the cottage has been updated and thoughtfully extended. This work was completed in the latter part of 2007. The original element of the cottage is of traditional sandstone construction under a slate roof. The cottage is formed over 1½ storeys and it affords a unique range of accommodation which comprises: entrance vestibule with frosted glass entry door leading to a terracotta tiled hall with four large overhead storage areas and bordered with display shelving. A fully tiled shower room off the entrance hall comprising w.c. with bio-bidet, wash basin and shower stall. A large double bedroom with a gorgeous original Victorian style fireplace which is of cast iron construction including the mantle with ornate tiled cheeks. There is a large utility room currently used for storage by way of five large storage cabinets configured for clothes, tools/equipment etc. and a large overhead storage area. This room also hosts a tumble dryer. It has a window and glass paned door opening to the rear of the property onto a private tiled patio overlooking the river. The eat-in kitchen is equipped with light oak base and wall mounted cabinets, slate tiled backsplash and a light coloured counter top incorporating integrated LPG hob and porcelain sink. Below the hob is an electric oven and to complete this set up is a stainless steel extractor canopy. From the kitchen two steps lead down from the original cottage into the dining/living room extension. This L shaped structure has double height ceilings and a skylight window in the dining room with an archway entrance to the living room. The rear exterior wall has large windows and a large sliding glass door all with breathtaking views of the Water of Girvan and secluded woodland. The sliding glass door leads to a two tiered timber deck (a nature watchers paradise—current owners have seen deer, otters, ducks, herons and many other varieties of birds). There is a stained glass door off the living room which leads to another private patio area where the present owners have a state of the art seven person hot tub surrounded by cedar fencing, a hedge row and shrubbery. From this patio you can also access the converted garage which has electricity, infra-red heating, television and where the owners have a fully equipped gym. This room boasts carpet flooring, two windows overlooking the river and 1 large window overlooking the hot tub. The extension wraps round the north east corner of the original cottage. The upper private patio area connects to the large lower timber deck with steps.

Returning to the interior of the cottage a stair case with skylight window and original timber balustrade and handrail provides access to the accommodation on the upper floor. This area comprises a unique large double bedroom with multi-fuel enamelled stove sitting in the original fireplace opening with wooden mantle and ornate stained glass sconces. Completing this bedroom is a three section bay window overlooking Dailly’s Miner’s Park. The master bathroom is custom tiled with heated towel bar, w.c., wash hand basin set in a cabinet with drawers and bathtub with overhead electric shower and glass panelled shower door. There is a floor to ceiling towel cupboard built into this bathroom. The upper landing also has a large walk in cupboard.

The cottage is well presented and is centrally heated by way of an oil boiler that sits outside. All windows and doors are double glazed in uPVC with the exception of a small kitchen window which in turn has original shutters and timber entrance door purposely left for aesthetics.

The rear of the cottage enjoys an outstanding outlook across the Water of Girvan and woodland. There is also a pleasant view towards the old village bridge (built 1873) and beyond Dalquharran Castle. The gardens are finished in such a way as to afford easy maintenance incorporating areas of lawn, planted borders and spaces which have been gravelled, paved or timber decked.

This is a well cared for property with an abundance of both indoor and outdoor storage areas. The entire property has its own 24 hour CCTV surveillance system. The property is situated in a no through street and is close to Brunston Castle Golf Course and numerous walking trails.

Dailly is situated in the heart of the Girvan Valley within superb rural surroundings. The village is approximately 6 miles east of Girvan and in the village there is a CO-OP store, small village shop/post office, Primary School with Nursery facility, Community Centre and Library. The village also has a Doctors Surgery with Dispensary and an Activity Centre with gym facilities. There is a motor repair garage/MOT centre. Around the village there are excellent routes for walking and cycle trails and on the edge of the village is an 18 hole parkland golf course, Brunston Castle. There is fishing on the Water of Girvan (salmon, trout and sea trout) and also the renowned River Stinchar.
